Why Your DevX Strategy Must Win the Machine Customer

For the past decade, the "Developer Experience" (DevX) conversation has been dominated by a single, human-centric metric: Time to Hello World (TTFHW). This metric measuring the time it takes for a developer to sign up, authenticate, and successfully execute a simple API call was the "First Mile" of adoption.1 It was a linear journey. A human developer would land on your portal, read your documentation, copy a code snippet, and paste it into their IDE. If they succeeded in under 15 minutes, you had a potential customer. If they struggled, they churned.
